Public Housing Town Hall

Every day, public housing residents have to endure living in horrible conditions that threaten their physical and mental wellbeing. Years of neglect and disinvestment have led to mold and lead hazards, rodent and insect infestations and general disrepair.

Over the past couple of years, Empower DC, its members, and allies have urged our local government to invest in public housing repairs to improve the quality of life of its residents. Although some strides have been made, we need to continue to raise up the fact that an ongoing investment of local dollars is needed to fix public housing NOW. Here are two ways you can help:

  • Follow this link to tweet and/or email Mayor Bowser, urging her to continue including funding for public housing repairs in her budget.

  • Save the date, Saturday, April 24th (11am-1pm) and join us for a townhall on public housing that centers the experience of public housing leaders fighting to improve and hold on to their homes and communities. Click here to RSVP.
